Any of y'all have any recommendations for what's good in our climate? I have zero experience and would probably only get knee/elbow pads for Lemmon rides.

If you get the open back pads they might be a bit cooler. I have the g-form elbow and knee. They are not too hot. If I had to do it over I would get the knee/shin just to reduce blood loss. My shins are always jacked. Lol

Kali elbows are the only elbows I have used(and I've done a lot of expensive research on this. By that I mean purchased a lot of different brands) that are worth a shit. They actually stay up and provide a lot of protection. There knees are pretty awesome too. Just saw a bunch of Troy Lee protectives for sale on pinkbike(article with april deals). They make quality stuff but the fit can be tough as they run really big. Gforms are supposed to be comfy but they lack a lotnof the coverage that other brands provide and good crash and you'll be headed back to the store for another pair because outside of the protection, you might as well be wearing a leotard.

I got a set of THE Maxi Pads knee pads for only $20 at Jensens they work fine, they are quite small. I wish they had shin guards attached.

We wear older Fox elbow guards because, at the time, they were the only ones with 3 Velcro straps. The 3-strap system allows using or bypassing the middle strap, which, when bypassed, makes them much cooler on the hot days.

I should clearly state that we don't wear guards as crash pads -- we wear them for veggie protection. Cactus guards. Catclaw guards.

We tried the strap system for leg protection, but those have a tendency to slowly rotate to the side while riding. Frustrating.

Anyone find leg guards with strap retention that stay put? I'm hesitant to spend money on guards with the "sock" because I have a bad feeling that they just would be too hot on warmer days.

I wear fox launch pros on my knees (knee only, not knee/shin). Obviously they are hotter than no pads, but they aren't too bad and I can pedal all day in them. I wear g-forms on my elbows.
