Hey all,

I'm from Albuquerque, and I'm going to be in Tucson Oct 14-26. Last time I was there Bug Springs/Molino Basin/Milagrosa blew my mind, and I'd love to do that as many times as possible during my visit. I also poked around on some of the tech at Upper 50 Year Trail(?), and would love if someone could show me around up there. I'll be bringing my Intense Carbine. I have pretty good skills.

What would be the best way to go about finding shuttle buddies for Mt. Lemmon, or people to show me around elsewhere? I'm down for traveling up to 2+ hours (day trips) for good, technical riding.

I tried doing some of the Singletracks/MTB Project rides last time, and it was really a mixed bag. I did Fantasy Island once, and wandered around 50 Year Trail quite a lot before I found anything interesting. So, I'm hoping to avoid that kind of wandering this time...

Thanks in advance! (I've also posted on TORCA's facebook page, and on the AZ mtbr.com forum.)

TORCA and SDMB are good places to start. TORCA does a shuttle on Lemmon every Friday, although not sure when the switch from Aspen to Bug Spring takes place.

Aspen will still be rideable that time of year and is alot of fun.
Middle gate out at 50 Year is alot of fun.

I'm out of town that first week but the 2nd week I'll be up on Lemmon and hate riding the road solo.

Best bet would be to post up on here a little closer to your trip and you'll find alot of folks riding.

skelldify,

Let's plan on touring some of the more obscure TMP gems.

Gotta divulge that I'm on the road to recovery right now. I had to have some extensive wrist surgery one month ago and the surgeon told me it'd be 3 months before my thumb muscle was fully reattached. They had to cut it loose from the palm of my hand to get in to grind off bone spurs, fix the crushed scaphoid/trapezium joint, and sew up a tendon that was 35% ruptured from the bone spurs. But by mid-October, I should be in good enough shape to start hitting the more challenging trails.

Hey Skelldify! Thanks for reaching out. Have you ridden Aspen Draw yet? As Rumblefish mentioned, we do weekly shuttle rides on that trail but that time of year we'll be dropping down low for Millie runs as the days are shorter. We could also show you around on Red Ridge. It's a hoot and it ties into upper 50(with a fun middle gate descent). We can see about getting you a guide. In the meatime, check out the profile. It does not include middle gate but you can find it by searching the map on Trailforks.com. Cheers!
