Work has been started on ATM. Brushing is completed from the Upper 50 junction through the gate, up through 'the pinch' in the schist line, and down into the first valley.

More to be done on Thursday and Saturday.

IF El Niño happens (isn't it already?), the high Lemmon Trails will definitely be under multiple feet of snow. That is going to shift a lot of riders over to this side of the mountain. The goal is to get the High Meadow Trails opened so there are great alternatives to the 50. Also, being more remote, they (High Meadow Trails) have a more back-country, less-groomed, more challenging aspect that disinvites those requiring quick easy access to groomed flow trails.

Thanks to SDMB for the tool help!

Saturday, 10/24 More Brushwork

Tomorrow morning, heading up to ATM to continue trimming.

MOST of the work done, so far, required the loppers or saw. Some small 'suckers' in overgrown areas were done with the hand bypass pruners. I'll have a full tool set and others are saying they will be out there, too! MaryEllen can't hike or ride, yet, (post surgery), but, will be lending her loppers to Hank. Pretty special, as she won't let me use them, something about, "…you don't slow down…you destroy tools…"

I'm leaving my place around 9:30 and getting to the work areas around 10:30.

I think Hank is meeting another at the alternate 50 Trailhead, Lago Del Norte at 10 and expects to get to the area at around 11.

If you don't mind I'll leave out with you. I've been to your place before. Although it's been a year or four. I'll take those loppers too. All my stuff is still in storage.

Great day! Four of us got all the way to the Waterfall Spur/Jackrabbit Ridge Junction on the Around The Mountain Trail.

Duncan, Hank, Gus and I are about half a mile (through easy areas) from the junction with Rattlesnake Trail (Cherry Tank Trail). Time allowing, it will get finished this coming week.

Great time with all, so excellent to have such great attitudes out on the trail. Fine day…

Quick question. I am fairly new to this forum, but have been mtb riding here in Tucson for nearly 20 years, around 10 years upper 50 yr almost exclusively, recently switched more to Torts. Ok, my question is, I have never heard the term "Around the Mountain" for the trail. Is that referring to the loop from the Golder Ranch parking lot, via the upper 50? Thanks.

Depending on my availability, would love to help.

ATM is off Upper 50 in Forest Service Land - it's been there a long time, but not as well ridden as Upper 50 loop. It's a good one.
