...and see several people online in the site, what are they all doing? C'mon! Cactus Crazy, Wonka, Gila, Sonoranbiker! What are you up to? No one posts any more, so what's tha scoop? Is there some super secret turtle lover forum only open to a few? The truth will out...

Well, since I moved to Phoenix, I'm just not that connected to the Tucson scene any longer.

I get on to see what is stirring and lurk, but it's only when I'm bored. lol

Also, it'll show people online long after they've logged off even if they were only on for 30 seconds.

Honestly, I get on mostly out of habit from when I was in Tucson and the forum was a pretty jumping place and I'd spend a fair amount of time on here.

TMTB is kind of like passing a place on the street where you were involved in a bad accident. You remember the accident and all of the craziness about it, but now it's months after the accident and there is no more debris on the road and everyone has gone home, but you just mentally note the spot as you pass by looking out of the window.

A bit like what I get when I ride up the Devils Highway now!

I didn't know you'd moved Will... do you ride up there? I wanted to check SoMo some time...

Oh yeah, I'm riding. I live waaaay on the west side of Phoenix. I have two county parks near to me and I live a 1/2 mile from FINS (Fantasy Island North Singletrack). So, that's where I do the vast majority of my riding.

I just rode SoMo for the first time like 3 or 4 weeks ago. Vernie came up and showed me around up there. We ended up riding National and it lived up to it's reputation. It's a lot of fun and has some spots that can bite you if you aren't careful or don't know the lines.

I won't lie, man, I miss Tucson and the riding there. The riding up here pales greatly in comparison. The trails are spread so far away from each other. Imagine instead of Dove Mountain being the furthest trail from where I was at Fantasy Island in Tucson, if Dove Mountain was the next nearest trail to Fantasy Island.

And the quality of trails is much different. Trails here are generally, way more groomed than Tucson trails. Most of the trails here are over sanitized, IMO.

But, you do with what you got. At least I'm not in Louisiana or San Diego. lol

I think the root of the issue is the lack of site administration.

TMTB is setup to require approval by admin for all new accounts -- there's 750+ awaiting approval right now. Looks like the last new account was approved in September of last year.

Forums always need new blood to keep things fresh.

Now there's 820+ waiting to join. There is obviously new blood that wants to join, but admins are either MIA or don't care.

I am keeping track of the site, but I honestly lost interest in posting much after a number of prolonged arguments and pissing matches. My time is better spent working with land managers and building trail.

Vern and I are in touch with the site admin and are looking at moving it to a new server with a new site design (Vern took the lead on that). As for the high numbers of folks waiting, some of those are actual people, but a high number are bots trying to set up accounts for spamming. Please be patient as we try to figure things out.

Thanks.
