The planned development vs. Fantasy Island was just in the news (KGUN 9), about a 30 second spot. Seemed to indicate that the developers are mindful that the trails are a big draw and want to work with local riders to preserve as much as possible.

Anyone have more detail?

When the city announced that it was selling the land, they said the buyer would need to get the zoning changed before they could develop it. Anyone know the status of the zoning changes? I assumed there would be public meetings, but maybe I missed them.

The "lines" have been drawn and as it sits right now, we will be losing Fire and Rez loops. When the process began with respect to the sale, we(TORCA) took a rather aggressive approach and told the city that they were taking away some really good trails and that we needed something in return. We asked for the old capped landfill as a place to build a skills area and "bike park". While it's way off, we are in the process of getting the area a mock up of what we want(jump lines, drops etc etc). But the net take away is that we're losing some trails but we are getting something back. If you have any more specific questions, reach out to TORCA board member Jeremy @ 520-780-0997
