CDO Season is finally upon us. After two hefty work events we can finally reap the rewards. April 25th will be the magical day. We will be using SW Trekking and their bus for this ride so we will be limited on number of attendees. Just like before TORCA members will get first crack at RSVPing for the bus. After April 10th all remaining spots will become available to members and non-members. TORCA members get first crack to fill up the bus. If you are a TORCA member and want to RSVP you spot send Vernie an email vernieaikins@gmail.com Only those that RSVP will get a spot on the bus. Once we get word on how much the shuttle will cost we will pass that along as well. The shuttle will cost $20. Will also get details about what time we are starting as we get closer as well. It will be early.

How old is "old"? Like, my age? Can I be the anchor?

I just ride my bike…I don't count 'dabs'…I don't care if I have to walk…I stop to look at things…I stop a lot to let pain subside…I haven't given myself my own 'terrible' nickname…so, it would be assuming of me to make any judgments about anyone else being an anchor.

I'm 55 and have great resilience. I've been through 29 operations to rebuild aspects of my body and have many more procedures in my near future. On a strength basis, I would challenge any of you to last a week in my body

I'm far from race-pace, but, I'll go…

No one cares if you're an Anchor, an Old Dude, a speed racer, or whatever you wanna call yourself. No one will be left behind during the ride or left out. Its all about riding bikes in the woods with good people.

Oh, cool, thanks! I'm pretty ignorant to all that marijuana stuff… Cool

What time is this event going to begin and I'm assuming this is a 5+ hour time line from start/return drop off?

It is pretty unlikely I'll be able to do this ride due to other engagements, but it's def something I want to do. To plan other shuttle trips how many folks would be needed to make it worthwhile?

If history is the guide, we'll all meet at Golder around 630am and be at the top by 830. Last year it took about 5 hours to get everyone off the mtn(50yr TH). Having said that, we had a bunch of people who were going fornstrava records and they were done in under 3 hors I think, so a quick run can be done if you have the chops and the fitness to keep of with the one they call Zoolander. As for what it would take to make it worthwhile, that's a question for Southwest trekking. They give us a big discount because we fill the buses for them.

Ok here are some of the final details. We will be meeting at Golder Ranch rd parking lot and loading the buses up at 5:30am. Please be there early so that we can make sure we are loaded and ready to roll ASAP. Also don't forget your $20 cash for the bus fare. You will pay this directly to the driver. Make sure you bring plenty of supplies to last the duration of the ride. It will be warm and I would say you need a minimum 100oz of water. This ride can take anywhere from 3hrs for the fast guys to 8hrs so the normal people. Make sure if this is your first trip down CDO you are prepared for a long day. There will be leaders in the back with the slowest group but the guys that want to ride ahead will be on their own to navigate.

Never done this trail, is it Down hill bike friendly? Or is that some serious pedaling?
